Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to provide full-time structural engineering and analytical support to the US ITER Project Office through the Final Design of the Ion Cyclotron Heating (ICH) system, Electron Cyclotron Heating (ECH) system, Vacuum Systems (VAS), and related structures.

You will perform complex STAAD or other structural analyses, verify concrete anchorage, document results in DAC packages, and collaborate with managers, engineers,

Qualifications

• BS in Civil or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in design, fabrication, and/or assembly of structures.
• Experience with STAAD or other structural analysis software.
• Familiarity with ANSI/AISC and AWS.

Responsibilities

• Work with managers, engineers, designers, and vendors to design and analyze supports and equipment hardware.
• Perform, develop, and modify complex structural analyses using STAAD and other software.
• Check concrete anchorage according to project guidelines.
• Document analysis results in DAC packages.
• Assist in development of project guidance documents and review work from others.
• Present designs and analyses to ITER IO during design reviews.
• Participate as SME in design reviews of other systems.
