Dennis Group is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to join our team in Springfield. You will perform structural calculations, develop analysis models, and ensure code compliance for diverse projects.

The role involves drafting contract drawings and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit, plus coordinating with other disciplines. Ideal candidates have a bachelor's in civil/structural engineering and 0–3 years of experience in calculations and drafting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• 0-3 years of relevant structural experience or schooling.
• 0-3 years of experience or schooling performing calculations and creating analysis models.
• 0-3 years of experience with drafting using AutoCAD and Revit.

Responsibilities

• Apply extensive knowledge of materials and construction techniques to design tasks.
• Perform hand calculations and create computer models for structural design tasks.
• Determine building code requirements and amendments.
• Coordinate structural work with other disciplines and review geotechnical reports.
• Design mat slabs for process tanks, vessels, and silos; design pipe bridges.

• Apply extensive and diverse knowledge of principles and practices for a wide range of materials and construction techniques.
• Perform hand calculations and create computer analysis models for structural design tasks.
• Determine the correct building code
• Locate any local or site-specific amendments to the building code
• Document gravity design loads, wind design loads, and seismic design loads
• Work with and design common structural framing systems (steel, composite steel, joists)
• Work with and design common foundations systems (Spread footings, drilled piers)
• Estimate foundation types & sizes and preliminary steel sizes
• Coordinate structural work with other disciplines
• Review geotechnical reports
• Design mat slabs for process tanks, vessels, and silos
• Design pipe bridges
• Perform take offs from structural plans
• Contact potential bidders for preliminary budget estimates
• Field measure existing structures to gather necessary information

Required Education Skills And Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
• 0-3 years of relevant structural experience or schooling in industrial and commercial building structure
• 0-3 years of experience or schooling performing calculations, creating analysis models for structural designs
• 0-3 years of experience or schooling in structural and concrete drafting sketches, contract drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit
• RAM Structural system and RAM Elements knowledge or experience is a plus
• EIT / FE desirable
• Detailed planning and organization skills.
• Experience with structural analysis software
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed (15 days a year)

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift-up to 15 pounds at times.
