Job summary

Dennis Group in the United States is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer with 0-3 years of experience to join our design team. You will perform calculations, develop models, and contribute to concrete and steel framing projects across industrial and commercial sectors.

You will draft contract drawings using AutoCAD and Revit, review documents, and coordinate with other disciplines. Occasional site travel is required to support field inspections and data collection.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• 0-3 years of relevant structural experience or schooling in industrial and commercial buildings.
• 0-3 years performing calculations and creating analysis models for structural designs.
• 0-3 years drafting sketches, contract drawings, and specs using AutoCAD and Revit.
• RAM Structural System and RAM Elements knowledge a plus.
• EIT / FE desirable.
• Detailed planning and organization skills.
• Experience with structural analysis software.
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed (15 days per year).

Job description

Responsibilities

• Apply extensive and diverse knowledge of principles and practices for a wide range of materials and construction techniques.
• Perform hand calculations and create computer analysis models for structural design tasks.
• Determine the correct building code
• Locate any local or site-specific amendments to the building code
• Document gravity design loads, wind design loads, and seismic design loads
• Work with and design common structural framing systems (steel, composite steel, joists)
• Work with and design common foundations systems (Spread footings, drilled piers)
• Estimate foundation types & sizes and preliminary steel sizes
• Coordinate structural work with other disciplines
• Review geotechnical reports
• Design mat slabs for process tanks, vessels, and silos
• Design pipe bridges
• Perform take offs from structural plans
• Contact potential bidders for preliminary budget estimates
• Field measure existing structures to gather necessary information
• Draft sketches, contract drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD.
• Review project documentation for conformity and quality assurance.

• Estimate construction costs with quantity take offs and historic costs

Required Education Skills And Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
• 0-3 years of relevant structural experience or schooling in industrial and commercial building structure
• 0-3 years of experience or schooling performing calculations, creating analysis models for structural designs
• 0-3 years of experience or schooling in structural and concrete drafting sketches, contract drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit
• RAM Structural system and RAM Elements knowledge or experience is a plus
• EIT / FE desirable
• Detailed planning and organization skills.
