Job summary

Mead & Hunt is seeking a senior structural engineer to lead design and analysis of hydraulic structures for dams, spillways, canals, and related facilities. The role includes condition assessments, plan preparation, site inspections, and support for construction administration.

We require a BS in civil/structural/architectural engineering, at least six years of experience, and a PE license with eligibility to obtain California licensure within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural or architectural engineering from an accredited college.
• At least six (6) years of relevant structural engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in any state with the ability to obtain a license in California within twelve (12) months of being hired.

Responsibilities

• Designing hydraulic structures and other structural engineering projects, including preparing designs and reports related to dams, spillways, canals, pump stations, valve houses, and other hydraulic structures.
• Performing condition assessments of existing structures.
• Evaluating and analyzing existing structures.
• Preparing or directing the preparation of plans, calculations, and specifications for bidding and construction.
• Conducting field inspections of project sites to assess existing conditions.
• Supporting construction administration for projects in construction.
• Serving as an engineer in responsible charge of reviewing, approving, and applying professional engineering seals to final plans, specifications, and reports.
• Leading projects as a design or discipline lead.
• Mentoring and providing guidance to less experienced team members.
• A valid driver’s license and some travel will be required.
