Position Summary

The position is responsible for engineering and design activities in the assigned functional area, such as analysis, design, and project management, under the guidance of higher-level engineers, leads, supervisors, or managers. The engineer will collaborate with higher-level engineers to complete projects supporting our customer, and may also work with internal engineers, designers, project staff, as well as client engineers and designers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate work activities of team members within the department to complete structural projects
• Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees
• Utilize computer software to design all substation structures and foundations
• Review Design Basis, Design Notes, Hazard Log, SOW, Technical Specs, and Field Review Plan
• Work with electrical designers to develop structural scopes and estimates based on diagrams and electrical arrangements
• Review structural design drawings, fabricator detail drawings, and other documents for compliance with design standards and codes
• Recommend improvements for structural designs, drawings, or documents
• Create material requisitions and coordinate with fabricators to verify lead times and costs, ensuring correct steel is ordered and delivered on schedule
• Coordinate with electrical designers and structural team members to complete project submittals
• Serve as project lead for structural projects
• Address project issues through corrective actions as needed
• Interpret applicable codes and regulations for project work

Education and Experience Requirements

• At least four years of experience in structural engineering, analysis, and foundation work
• At least four years of experience managing engineering projects from initiation to completion
• At least four years of experience in scoping, estimating, and material procurement for structural projects
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution
• Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering will count towards experience requirements
• A SE License is required for the State of Washington

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00/hr. The benefits include medical, dental, vision, critical illness, accident, hospital coverage, 401(k), life insurance, disability, HSA, transportation benefits, employee assistance, and paid time off. Eligibility and specific benefits depend on employment status and location.
