Description

Brown and Caldwell, a national environmental engineering firm, has a new opportunity for a Structural Engineer to provide project leadership and technical proficiency to deliver high quality designs for a portfolio of clients. We are seeking a motivated and achievement-oriented individual to take ownership of the structural design on projects and be accountable for the delivery of the project structural team.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage structural project teams, ensuring budget and schedule compliance.
  2. Design structural components for tanks, basins, and building facilities at water and wastewater treatment plants.
  3. Design structural elements for industrial water facilities.
  4. Create designs for concrete, steel, and masonry structures following IBC standards.
  5. Perform condition assessments of existing structures.
  6. Prepare detailed design sketches and coordinate with staff to develop BIM models and drawings.
  7. Prepare construction specifications.
  8. Coordinate structural work with architects and other engineering disciplines.
  9. Provide construction administration support, including submittal reviews and structural observations.
  10. Utilize structural software such as STAAD Pro, RAM, and Enercalc for design purposes.
Qualifications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of concrete, steel, and masonry design per IBC and referenced standards.
  • Experience with treatment plants, ports, and heavy civil/structural projects is preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in structural engineering design.
  • Experience with wastewater treatment plants or industrial facilities is preferred; commercial experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred), with emphasis on structural coursework.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
Salary and Benefits

The starting salary varies based on location and experience, with ranges:

  • Location B: $117,000 - $160,000
  • Location C: $128,000 - $174,000
