Job summary

CME Associates is seeking a Structural Engineer to join the HMB team in a hybrid work arrangement. You will design transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, and walls, while supporting senior staff in drafting and review.

The role requires a PE license, 5+ years of structural design experience, and collaboration across disciplines to deliver projects that meet codes and client needs in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required.
• 5+ years of experience in structural design for transportation structures.
• Experience designing bridges, culverts, and walls.
• Project/Client management experience preferred.
• Ability to guide junior staff and participate in design and detailing.

Responsibilities

• Design transportation-related structures including bridges, culverts, and retaining walls with reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, and timber elements.
• Assist senior design staff in structural design, drafting & review.
• Collaborate with structures group, other disciplines, and sometimes clients to complete projects.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines and codes.
• Develop engineers cost estimates.
• Guide junior staff by providing direction and constructive feedback.

Key Responsibilities

Skills, Knowledge And Expertise

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering
• Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer
• Experience designing transportation structures including bridges, culverts, and walls
• 5+ years of experience in structural design
• Project and / or Client Management experience is preferred
• Ability to guide junior staff as well as participate in the design and detailing of structural design projects
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Proficiency with CADD software (preferably MicroStation or AutoCAD)
• Proficiency with structural design software (i.e. Bentley LEAP Bridge, OpenBridge, MDX, MIDAS, etc)
• DOT project experience is preferred
• Ability and willingness to assist with inter-disciplinary projects outside of structural design
