Job summary

Game 7 Staffing is seeking a Structural Engineer 3 for an on-site contract in El Segundo, CA. You will generate and certify engineering analysis packages, conduct static and dynamic analysis of tooling fixtures and structures, and prepare reports for aerospace fabrication projects.

Candidates must hold a PE license (California preferred), have experience with hand calculations and FEA, and be able to work independently or in teams while adhering to ASME Y14.1-5 standards.

Qualifications

  • PE licensure is required or CA licensure preferred.
  • Experience with structural stress-analysis using hand calculations and FEA.
  • Proficiency in CATIA or NX for 3D modeling and drawings.
  • Ability to create and review ASME Y14.5 compliant drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and provide input on product design involving metals and composites.
  • Perform static and dynamic structural analysis using hand calculations and FEA tools.
  • Create and review analysis reports for internal and customer use.
  • Develop 3D models and fabrication drawings per ASME Y14.5.
  • Communicate findings to management and customer representatives.

Job Duties
  • Analyze, research, and provide input on product design or product operation involving metals and varying materials.
  • Perform structural analysis using hand calculations and FEMAP/NASTRAN software.
  • Perform static and dynamic analysis for tooling fixtures and structures.
  • Create analysis reports and review reports prepared by others.
  • Present and explain structural issues and solutions to internal management and customer representatives.
  • Engage team members in meetings and 1:1s to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Evaluate engineering products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
  • Identify and mitigate safety risks in accordance with company and state/government standards.
  • Develop and conceptualize designs using 3D modeling tools, including NX and CATIA.
  • Create fabrication drawings in CAD compliant with ASME Y14.1-5 standards.
  • Provide guidance to engineers on current fabrication and machine-shop practices.
  • Provide input or methods for process and design innovation while adapting to processes and company policy.
Must Haves
  • Active Professional Engineering (PE) license; California licensure is preferred.
  • Structural stress-analysis experience and ability to analyze simple to complex problems using hand calculations and FEA.
  • Experience with structural stress-analysis techniques, concepts, and practices.
  • Experience with computer-aided design tools and systems, including CATIA and NX.
  • Basic ability to create, read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications in accordance with ASME 14.5; basic GD&T understanding.
  • Ability to communicate with varied leadership levels, coordinate and resolve interpersonal and technical problems, and work independently or on a team with limited guidance.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance and special program access.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and experience in medium- to large-scale fabrication and/or production fabrication, including composites, metallic, and/or manufacturing operations.
  • Familiarity with structural engineering specialties including dynamics and loads, stability, stress fatigue, damage tolerance, durability, and design allowables.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
  • A Bachelor’s (STEM) degree.
  • Experience in medium- to large-scale fabrication and/or production fabrication, including composites, metallic, and/or manufacturing operations.
Nice To Haves
  • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with aircraft structural analysis or design.
  • Direct experience with tooling mechanics and stress analysis.
  • Fabrication experience applying accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.
  • Current active DoD Secret clearance with an investigation date or periodic review within the last five years.
