Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group in Minneapolis seeks a Senior Structural/Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and analysis of modular mechanical systems. You will perform FEA on skid bases, piping racks, and supports, run CFD-heat transfer studies, and validate CAD models with CAD teams.

You will interface with piping, process, electrical, and instrumentation teams, ensure compliance with US/Canadian codes, review models, and contribute to DVA/FEA analyses. P.Eng certification preferred.

Qualifications

• BE/ME Mechanical/Structural degree required.
• 3-5 years of engineering experience in a similar role.
• Experience with static steel structure design and codes.
• Proficient in seismic and vibration analysis.
• Experience with Hyperworks, ANSYS FLUENT, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro.
• CFD-Heat Transfer analysis experience preferred.
• P.Eng certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help improve the latest product, which was launched less than a year ago.
• Improve the structural design, ensuring efficiency and innovation. This will include reviews and approving models, DWGs, and other technical definition documentation.
• Manage the conceptualization of modular mechanical design, promoting streamlined processes.
• Select and define structural components for the product, subsystem, and module’s skid/frame.
• Perform structural analysis (FEA) on piping racks, structural supports, skid, cable trays, retrieval bracket, stairs, deck, CAB, and various mechanical systems including the lifting and clamping tools.
• Do the thermal analysis (CFD-Heat Transfer analysis).
• Oversee computer simulations and validation work, collaborating with experts to ensure quality results.
• Interface with various engineering design teams (piping, process, electrical, instrumentation) for seamless integration.
• Create clear work packages for CAD teams, ensuring high-quality modeling and drafting.
• Structural Design Modeling and Analysis. Create CAD models to represent architectural or product level system design concepts, and to enable completion of various system-level computer analyses such as DVA and FEA.
• Design of Structural Systems. Apply an in-depth understanding of mechanical systems and designs for requirements of all lifecycle stages by considering the customer requirements in different operating environments to ensure a robust system.
• Product Function Modeling, Simulation and Analysis. Impact product design decisions through the utilization and/or interpretation of computational tools and methods that predict the capability of a product's function relative to its system, sub-system and/or component level requirements.

Requirements

Must-Have Experience:

• BE/ME Mechanical/Structural.
• 3 - 5 years of engineering experience in a similar role, with senior or lead engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
• Working knowledge of structural design of static steel structures like skid bases or heavy duty mounting and lifting structures.
• Working knowledge of Canadian and US building code.
• Ability to read, interpret, and decompose standards into requirements.
• Ability to perform seismic & vibration analysis or define all boundary conditions for other analysts.
• Experience of Hyperworks (Hypermesh, Optistruct and Radioss), LSDYNA, ANSYS FLUENT (entry level)
• Experience of CFD-Heat Transfer analysis
• Experience of SAP 2000 and STAAD Pro.
• P. Eng. Certification.

Nice To Have Experience

• Experience in Engineering, Procurement and Contracting (EPC); preferably in Hydrogen, Oxygen service, Oil & Gas, Offshore equipment.
• Familiarity with mechanical design of high voltage / high current electrical systems is a bonus.
• Experience with PTC Creo CAD platform is a bonus.
