Job summary

Everforth Apex is seeking an experienced designer for heavy industrial and power plant projects in Birmingham, AL. You will develop 3D models and construction drawings for structural steel, reinforced concrete, and ductwork, and support layouts, cost estimates, and field verification.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in industrial design, strong AutoCAD skills, 3D modeling, and familiarity with Bentley or Advanced Steel software.

Qualifications

• Proficient in AutoCAD; 3D modeling strongly preferred
• Experience with Bentley or Advanced steel structural software preferred
• Steel/concrete detailing background a plus

Job Responsibilities

This position requires 10+ years of heavy industrial/power plant experience. Job responsibilities include producing 3D models and design drawings for structural steel, reinforced concrete, and/or ductwork, preparing layouts and conceptual designs, reviewing vendor shop fabrication drawings, preparing material takeoffs and assist with cost estimates, coordinating work with other disciplines, clients, and contractors, and performing site walk-downs for field verification and to address constructability.

Qualifications & Skills

Skillsets and expertise required for this position include proficient using AutoCAD, 3D modeling experience is strongly preferred, experience in Microsoft/Bentley and/or Advanced steel structural software is preferred, steel/concrete detailing background is a plus. Must be able to produce clear, concise drawing notes, able to work effectively both as part of a team and independently, and the ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.
