Job summary

VHB is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer to join our Richmond, Williamsburg, or Virginia Beach offices. The role focuses on planning, analysis, design, and detailing of bridge and transportation structures, with a hybrid work model.

The position requires 3+ years in structural bridge design, a B.S. in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred), and EIT certification (PE preferred). Salary ranges reflect Virginia locations and Total Rewards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of structural bridge design experience.
• B.S. in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred).
• Engineering in Training (EIT) certification; PE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, reports, and analyses to ensure they meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
• Support and implement structural planning, analysis, and preparation of design documents for bridge projects.
• Develop design plans, technical specifications, calculations, load ratings, cost estimates, and final bid packages.
• Ensure production of plans, specifications, reports, and analyses meet standards and quality.
• Review and create structural inspections/evaluations, and load capacity ratings.
• Assist other engineers with design and detailing of structures supporting loads (bridges, stations, marine, etc).
• Perform project scoping studies and alternatives analysis.
• Prepare construction contract documents and technical reports.
