Job summary
VHB in the Washington, D.C. region seeks a Senior Structural Bridge Engineer to join the Tysons Corner team in a hybrid role. You will work on complex bridge projects, develop digital bridge models, and support multidisciplinary infrastructure initiatives.
The role emphasizes design excellence, project leadership, and collaboration across highway, pedestrian, and rail structures while mentoring junior staff and delivering through a flexible hybrid environment.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of structural bridge/transportation design experience.
- BS in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis.
- PE license is required.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural modeling, design, and oversight for bridge and transportation projects.
- Prepare construction documents, plans, specs, estimates, and calculation packages.
- Provide technical and training support to staff; lead QA reviews of documents and reports.
- Assist in proposals, contracts, and scheduling; provide project management support.
- Lead inspections/evaluations and load capacity ratings; review drawings.
- Coordinate among groups (highway, pedestrian, railroad, marine, energy projects).
- Develop technical reports and proposal sections.
