Job summary

VHB's Structural Design team in Massachusetts is seeking an experienced Structural Designer - Engineer (Bridge and Transportation) to work on major bridge and transportation projects in a hybrid environment. You will mentor junior staff and oversee design efforts.

Ideal candidate has 3+ years in bridge projects, B.S. in Civil Engineering, EIT; PE preferred. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, and multiple structural software packages; strong communication and project management skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in bridge/transportation projects
• B.S. Civil Engineering; Master’s degree allowed in lieu of 1–2 years
• EIT expected; PE license or ability to obtain within 12 months preferred
• Self-motivated with attention to detail
• Strong project management and technical skills
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Work on major bridge and other complex transportation projects
• Provide technical support/mentorship to junior structural engineering staff
• Perform oversight of engineering design for bridges and other transportation infrastructure
• Prepare construction documents, including plans, specifications, estimates and calculation
• Perform quality control reviews of project construction documents, engineering reports
