Job summary

Stantec in Albany, NY seeks a Structural Bridge Engineer to join the Bridges and Structures Team. The successful candidate will contribute to projects in New York State and North America, overseeing design and contract documents for bridges and performing load ratings.

Minimum 5 years of bridge design experience and NY P.E. license preferred; the role involves mentoring junior engineers, client coordination, and ensuring project delivery on schedule and budget, with a hybrid, flexible work model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in structural design and analysis of bridges and other transportation structures.
• Professional Engineering license or the ability to get one in NY.
• Proficiency in STAAD, CSI, SAP, AASHTOWare BrR and other structural analysis and design software.
• Ability to develop drawings using AutoCAD, Microstation and Open Bridge Modeler.
• Understanding design codes and agency standards such as AASHTO, ASCE, AISC and ACI.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design and preparation of contract documents for new bridges and rehabilitation of existing bridges.
• Perform load rating analysis of existing bridges.
• Perform design calculations, drawings, and details for various bridge design projects.
• Mentor and monitor junior structural engineers.
• Review shop drawings produced by fabricators and detailers, calculations performed by other engineers, coordinate with design team, site visits to address site issues and verify existing conditions, and respond to requests for information.
• Assist with the management and administration of projects, including budget tracking, staffing, quality reviews, and HSSE compliance.
• Coordinate with clients to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
