Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington is seeking an experienced structural analyst to perform hand calculations and FEM analyses on secondary aerospace structures for design and production support. You will drive discrepancies to resolution, document stress analyses, and guide repair methods for metallic structures.

The role requires 5+ years in aerospace structures, a BS in engineering, and the ability to provide technical guidance, perform peer reviews, and support production activities across teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures.
• Experience with analyzing / dispositioning non-conformances.
• Complete hand calculations.

Responsibilities

• Detailed hand calc and FEM analysis of secondary aerospace structures for design and production support.
• Drive hardware discrepancies to resolution including dispositioning of manufacturing nonconformances.
• Documentation of stress analysis to support release of engineering drawings/documents.
• Deep understanding of repair methods and analytical practices for metallic structures.
• Provide technical assessment of damage or out of tolerance conditions and guidance on repair or use.
• Provide technical guidance on design concepts (risk vs. cost vs. performance).
• Maintain and report on technical status.
• Prepare technical content and present to internal and external customers.
• Support cross organizational teams with input for production activities and configuration development.
• Analysis checks for designers and junior structural analysts in stress/stability/fracture analysis and best practices.
• Improve enterprise analysis capabilities such as automation tools for model creation, strength checks, and reports.
