Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a seasoned structural analyst to perform detailed hand calculations and FEM analyses on primary and secondary aerospace structures for production support and sustainment initiatives. You will document stress analyses to release engineering drawings and assess repair methods for metallic and composite structures.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures.
• Complete hand calculations including free-body diagrams for internal and reaction load derivation.
• Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle load path and stress analysis of metallic and/or composite structures.
• Demonstrated experience with multiple analysis codes: ANSYS, Nastran, Abaqus, LS-DYNA.

Responsibilities

• Detailed hand calc and FEM analysis of primary and secondary aerospace structures for production support and sustainment initiatives.
• Documentation of stress analysis to support release of engineering drawings/documents.
• Deep understanding of repair methods for metallic and composite structures.
• Provide technical guidance on design concepts (risk vs. cost vs. performance).
• Maintain and report on technical status; participate in subsystem test planning and data analysis.
• Prepare technical content and present to internal and external customers.
• Support production activities and configuration development.
