Job summary

Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) seeks a Specialty Coordinator to lead and coordinate the Stroke Program, delivering patient-centered care and guiding regulatory compliance across Joint Commission and American Heart Association standards.

The role requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, data reporting, community education, and leadership to improve performance and outcomes in MUSC Charleston.

Responsibilities

• Assist with coordination of Stroke Program regulatory/certification activities (15%)
• Maintain current knowledge of requirements related to stroke regulatory bodies (Joint Commission, AHA)
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to prioritize resources and strategize improvements from regulatory findings
• Manage and oversee process improvement projects per Neuroscience ICCE strategic plan and stroke guidelines
• Implement PDSA and IMPROVE process improvement methods
• Efficiently assumes leadership role (10%)
• Demonstrates high standards of patient care and serves as a role model
• Delegates appropriately and communicates effectively
• Promotes teamwork and handles stress maturely
• Follows unit procedures and budgets considerations
• Provides stroke subject matter expertise and supports care teams
• Maintains Stroke Program data, dashboards and reports
• Participates in Stroke community education events annually
• Rounds on units and supports quarterly Stroke Hero Award
• The MUSC Stroke Program team emphasizes evidence-based, high-quality patient care
