Rush University Medical Center in Chicago seeks a System Stroke Program Director to lead the strategy, development, implementation, and evaluation of stroke programs across the system. You will collaborate with Surgical and Medical Directors and coordinate clinical pathways, with responsibilities spanning research, education, and patient care.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Nursing, Illinois RN licensure, BLS, NIHSS and mRS certifications within 6 months, stroke certification within 1

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing and Illinois RN licensure.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • NIHSS and mRS certifications within 6 months of hire.
  • Stroke certification within one year of hire.
  • Clinical expertise in stroke care.
  • Experience in clinical program development and operations.
  • Ability to work in a complex clinical and administrative program.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of analytical ability.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with EMR and chart reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Manages stroke care services and works with Stroke Program leaders to develop business and operations plans.
  • Collaborates with stroke coordinators and leadership at all stroke centers throughout the system.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors evidence-based standards of care for stroke patients.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal laws, accreditation, and Rush policies.
  • Coordinates and ensures effective communication across the continuum of care.
  • Establishes and attains clinical, operations, and quality performance goals.
  • Leads performance improvement activities and educational programs.
  • Maintains relationships with EMS agencies and partners.
  • Maintains patient-centric focus and drives patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes initiatives.
  • Oversees data collection for quality measures and performance improvement.
  • Supervises Stroke Program staff and coordinators.
  • Ensures Joint Commission guidelines readiness.
  • Oversees Telestroke/2Brain network growth.
  • Develops community presence and education programs.
