Job summary

Harford County Public Schools is seeking a Paraeducator for the Special Education STRIVE program at Darlington Elementary School. This full-time ten-month position supports instructional staff, assists with IEP/IFSP implementation, and helps students with individualized needs.

Starting salary is $28,482 with a maximum of $47,769, plus a $2,500 stipend, and a comprehensive benefits package. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and relevant qualifications; paraprofessional exam

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or higher or 48 college credits or passing paraprofessional exam accepted.
• ParaPro score of 455+ or ParaPathways: Reading/Writing 332+ and Math 334+; Foundations of Classroom Support 220+; Foundations of Classroom Support and Instruction 220+.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Able to be trained in and perform proper restraint techniques.
• Able to lift and transfer students up to 40 pounds.
• Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to students during instruction.
• Implements teacher lesson plans with individuals or small groups.
• Works under the direction of the teacher to provide instruction to individual or small groups of students.
• Assists with data collection, testing, and student assessment.
• Assists with IEP/IFSP implementation for students with special needs.
• Monitors student behavior and applies behavioral strategies and intervention plans.
• Provides assistance with personal care needs of students including lifting, transferring, feeding, toileting, and restraint as required.
• Prepares instructional materials for students.
• Assists with school-wide duties including field trips, assemblies, class coverage, bus duty, and computer lab.
• Participates in professional development programs as assigned.
• Works with students via digital platforms to provide support and data collection.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
