Job summary

Harford County Public Schools seeks a Paraeducator – Special Education for the STRIVE program at Hickory Elementary School. The role supports instructional staff, assists with data collection, implements lesson plans with individuals or small groups, and helps students with IEP/IFSP goals in both in-person and virtual settings.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and pass paraprofessional exams; lifting up to 40 pounds may be required; strong verbal and written skills are

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• AA degree or higher, or 48 college credits.
• Paraprofessional exam options accepted by HCPS.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to students during instruction.
• Implements lesson plans with individuals or small groups.
• Works under teacher direction to provide instruction to individuals or small groups.
• Assists with data collection, testing, and student assessment.
• Assists with IEP/IFSP implementation for students.
• Monitors student behavior and implements behavioral strategies.
• Assists with personal care needs of students including lifting, transferring, feeding, toileting, and restraint as required.
• Prepares instructional materials for students.
• Assists with school-wide duties (field trips, assemblies, etc.).
• Participates in professional development programs.
• Works with students via digital platforms for instruction and assessment.
• Performs other duties as assigned (in-person or virtual).
