Job summary

City of Hendersonville, NC is seeking a Streets Maintenance Worker I to perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor within the Streets Division of the Public Works Department. The role involves maintenance of streets, sidewalks, stormwater systems, curbs, and gutters under supervision.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and relevant certifications (flagger, work zone, OSHA 10). On-call and emergency work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent; two years of experience in general maintenance of streets, sidewalks, stormwater systems preferred.
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License and CDL/flagger certifications within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists with demolition and replacement of concrete and asphalt.
• Shovels, digs, cuts, compacts and rolls asphalt for street repairs.
• Constructs forms and pours concrete for sidewalks and curbs.
• Helps transport equipment to job site and sets up traffic control and safety.
• Keeps job site clean and safe.
• Interacts with public and other city divisions as required.
• Work outside normal hours in emergencies or on-call.
• Supports snow and ice removal operations.
