Job summary

The City of Hendersonville, NC is hiring for Line Maintenance roles to perform preventive maintenance and repair on water and sewer lines, meters, hydrants, and related appurtenances. You will operate heavy equipment as part of a crew and work outdoors in varied conditions.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, NC CDL Class A, and operator certifications (or be able to obtain them within 12–18 months).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Must possess NC CDL Class A license at time of hire.
• Certification in sewer/water operation or ability to obtain within 12–18 months.
• CPR, Flagger, and Trenching/Shoring certifications required.
• Experience with water/sewer distribution systems a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment (mini-excavators, skid steers, backhoes, dump trucks) for water/sewer maintenance.
• Install/repair water and sewer lines, meters, hydrants, and appurtenances.
• Maintain rights‑of‑way and perform landscaping/restoration at job sites.
• Work on-call/outside normal hours during emergencies.
• Follow safety procedures and complete required reports.
