Job summary

City of Aspen is seeking a Streets/Heavy Equipment Operator II to work with the Streets Department. You will operate street department vehicles and heavy equipment for street repair, snow removal, and storm drain work, aligned with the City’s mission and values.

The role requires 2–5 years of equipment operation experience, a valid Colorado driver’s license (CDL with Tanker endorsement preferred), and the ability to obtain a CDL within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two to five years of experience as an equipment operator.
• Valid Colorado Driver’s License; CDL with Tanker endorsement or equivalent; CDL within six months if not currently held.
• Must pass drug testing and a physical examination; background check may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain all kinds of heavy equipment and vehicles used in street work.
• Perform pre-trip inspections and daily inspections; perform minor repairs and keep equipment clean.
• Maintain inventory and service street signs; install/repair signs as required.
• Support seasonal summer/winter operations including snow removal, street repairs, and PM10 control measures.
• Be available for on-call rotations and emergency response when required.
