Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) seeks a Highway Maintenance Specialist in Maybell, CO. You will play a key role in keeping roadways safe by plowing snow, operating heavy equipment, mowing, debris removal and installing signs and lighting.

Requires a valid CDL Class A or B and at least two years of physical labor or heavy equipment experience. The job includes on-call, overtime, and a 4-day summer schedule with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with no restrictions on air brakes.
• Willing to work on-call, overtime, and shift work; capable of performing physically demanding tasks outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow and operating heavy equipment such as tandem dump trucks and loaders.
• Mowing grass, removing debris, and performing minor roadway repairs and guardrail work.
• Installing signs, striping, pothole filling, and traffic control during emergencies.
• Maintaining equipment and adhering to safety protocols in varying weather and road conditions.
