Job summary

City of Nacogdoches is seeking an Equipment Operator I for the Streets team in the Public Works Department. You will operate light motorized equipment to maintain city streets, alleys and drainage systems.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and a valid Texas Class B CDL (Class A/B endorsements may add to pay). Work includes resurfacing, material handling, and routine maintenance, with rotations for call-out duties.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate light motorized equipment and follow safety protocols.
• Knowledge of construction equipment operation and safe driving practices.
• CDL driving is required; endorsements may increase pay.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate light motorized equipment including trucks, tractors and mowers.
• Assist in resurfacing, patching and maintaining city streets and drainage systems.
• Move materials like asphalt, gravel, dirt and stone.
• Perform preventative maintenance and normal servicing on tools and equipment.
• Work safely near high-speed vehicle traffic.
• Operate hand tools such as saws, jackhammers and air compressors as needed.
• Work on a rotation with the call-out crew.
