Job summary

The City of Nacogdoches is seeking an Equipment Operator I to join the Streets team in the Public Works Department. The role involves operating light motorized equipment and assisting with maintenance, repair and construction of city streets, alleys and drainage systems.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED and valid Class B Texas CDL or completion of the city's CDL academy. CDL with endorsements may add up to $160 per month. Salary is $14.42 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Experience operating equipment is preferred.
• Knowledge of construction equipment operation, care and adjustment; safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate light motorized equipment, including trucks, tractors and mowers.
• Assist in resurfacing, patching and maintaining city streets and drainage systems.
• Move materials like asphalt, gravel, dirt and stone to get the job done right.
• Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning and servicing on tools and equipment.
• Work safely near high-speed traffic; use hand tools as required.
• Work on a rotation with the call-out crew.
