Job summary

The City of Bastrop is seeking an Equipment Operator for the Public Works Streets & Drainage team. Under supervision, you will operate light duty equipment to construct, repair, and maintain streets, sidewalks, signage, and drainage systems in Bastrop.

You will repair areas affected by striping, potholes, and city activities; maintain records; and assist with miscellaneous public works tasks. A valid Texas driver license and clean driving record are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; plus 6 months to 1 year of work experience operating light duty equipment.
• Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record.
• Valid Texas Class C Driver License or higher.

Responsibilities

• Operate light duty equipment for construction, maintenance, and repair of streets and drainage systems.
• Repair streets, potholes, and drainage-related areas.
• Maintain records of work orders and vehicle/equipment maintenance.
• Place traffic control devices, signs, and indicators per site requirements.
• Attend required safety meetings and follow written and oral instructions.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, colleagues, and the public.
