Job summary

City of Dothan is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Operator for Dothan Utilities to maintain storm sewers, streets, and rights of way. The role involves manual and semi-skilled tasks, including pipe laying, trench digging, concrete work, and operating various trucks and equipment under foreman supervision.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and at least six months of relevant experience in underground utilities, concrete, or asphalt.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a standard senior-high school or GED (USDE/CHEA)
• Six (6) months recent experience in underground utility work, concrete, or asphalt
• Must complete and submit a detailed employment application with duties, dates and addresses

Responsibilities

• Lay pipe on grade for storm sewers using line, level or optical instruments.
• Dig trenches; lay and join pipe.
• Operate dump trucks and related equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance on tools, equipment and vehicles.
• Ensure safety at job sites and follow safety policies.
