Job summary

The City of Marion in North Carolina is seeking candidates for a public works labor/probationary maintenance role. The position involves semi-skilled to skilled work in streets, sidewalks, parks, drainage, and related facilities, with operation of light and medium trucks and various tools.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid Class B CDL or other appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina.
• High school diploma preferred; ability to read and write and some experience in concrete or asphalt construction or maintenance work.

Responsibilities

• Patch potholes and resurface streets; prepare asphalt materials and spread asphalt.
• Construct and repair concrete sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and driveway aprons; set forms and pour concrete.
• Clean and maintain storm drains, drainage structures, and install/repair storm drain pipe.
• Maintain City grounds and rights of way; cut grass, trim, mulch, plant, weed, and perform landscape duties.
• Inspect parks and playground equipment for safety; perform basic maintenance and repairs.
