Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required and three years of hands-on equipment operation experience.
• Experience in shoulder and ditch maintenance, pipe installation, or asphalt patching is preferred.
• Must possess a valid North Carolina Class A CDL with N endorsement or obtain it within 360 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and construction tasks on state-maintained roads and roadside features.
• Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozer, excavator, backhoe, and dump trucks.
• Set up and manage traffic control and flagging in work zones.
• Respond to emergencies including snow/ice removal, hurricanes, and other incidents.
