Job summary

The City of Duluth is seeking a versatile Laborer to perform semi-skilled and skilled tasks in construction, maintenance, and repair of city streets. You will work under supervision with tools and light equipment, handling weather-related challenges with a team-focused approach.

Applicants should have at least one year of construction laborer experience and a Minnesota Class B CDL with Air Brake, plus Tanker endorsement within six months.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of verifiable experience as a construction laborer or equivalent duties.
• Must possess valid Minnesota Class B CDL with Air Brake; Tanker endorsement within six months.

Responsibilities

• Be an effective team member and support colleagues to complete tasks on time.
• Perform road construction and street maintenance duties as directed.
• Patch streets with hot and cold asphalt mixtures.
• Assist in paving operations of streets and alleyways.
• Perform drainage maintenance such as cleaning basins and culverts.
• Install and maintain traffic control devices and street signs.
• Form, mix, and pour concrete for curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.
• Assist in crack sealing operations with various materials.
• Support grass cutting and right-of-way clearing along roadsides.
• Assist in street painting operations.
• Load materials into trucks efficiently.
• Operate a range of vehicles including pickup trucks and dump trucks.
• Assist in ice removal during water-related incidents.
• Conduct light vehicle maintenance and daily inspections.
• Operate power tools such as saws and routers.
• Perform indoor maintenance and keep Street Maintenance facilities clean.
• Clean up blight and debris citywide.
• Other related duties as assigned.
