Job summary

The City of Duluth is seeking a versatile Construction Laborer to perform a variety of street maintenance tasks in the public works department. Responsibilities include road construction, patching, drainage, traffic control, and light equipment operation under supervision.

Qualified applicants will have at least one year of relevant experience and a Minnesota Class B CDL with Air Brake endorsement; Tanker endorsement within six months.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of verifiable experience as a construction laborer.
• Valid Minnesota Class B Commercial Driver’s license with Air Brake endorsement; Tanker endorsement within six months.
• Experience with street maintenance, patching, drainage and traffic control is preferred.
• Ability to work under supervision and in varied weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform road construction and street maintenance tasks.
• Patch streets with hot and cold mix asphalt and assist in paving operations.
• Assist in drainage control, cleaning basins and culverts.
• Install and maintain traffic control devices, barricades and signs.
• Form, mix and pour concrete for curbs, gutters and sidewalks as needed.
• Assist in crack sealing and roadside vegetation work.
• Operate light trucks and construction equipment under supervision.
• Perform light vehicle maintenance and daily equipment checks.
