Job summary

City of Duluth is seeking a street maintenance worker to perform winter snow and ice control, field maintenance, and minor repairs. The role requires operating plow trucks, loaders, and hand tools, with supervision provided by a leadworker or higher-level staff.

Applicants must have at least one year of related education or experience in road maintenance, with a valid Minnesota Class B license preferred. Work is outdoors in all weather conditions, and duties include drainage and traffic control

Qualifications

• One year of related education and/or full-time experience in snow/ice, soils, road surface maintenance, bridge maintenance, or related activities.
• Experience operating heavy equipment or driving commercial vehicles is a plus.
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions and under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Maintain roadways for snow and ice control: remove snow, apply anti-icing/de-icing chemicals, and patrol during storms.
• Prepare and inspect winter equipment (cutting edges, sanders) and clean equipment after storms.
• Maintain documentation on snow/ice data for inventory reporting.
• Assist in street patching using hot and cold asphalt.
• Perform drainage tasks such as cleaning catch basins and culverts.
• Assist in installing and maintaining traffic control devices and signs.
• Perform light equipment maintenance and daily vehicle inspections.
• Contribute to team effort and complete tasks within timelines.
• Other duties as assigned.
