Job summary

The City of Indianapolis & Marion County seeks a Supervisor to oversee maintenance and repair work for bridges, drainage, and street surfaces in the DPW district. You will manage crews, assign routes, and monitor daily performance while ensuring safety and policy compliance.

Responsibilities include reporting, timekeeping, and coordinating with the Superintendent. Candidates should have strong supervisory and communication skills, and a willingness to respond to emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with four years of crew experience or two years in a supervisory role.
• Ability to delegate authority and responsibilities; effective oral and written communication.
• Knowledge of road/street maintenance rules and standards preferred; basic computer skills in Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Patrols specified area checking surface conditions and investigates complaints.
• Plans routes, assigns duties, and reviews the work of crew daily.
• Verifies completion of each project and reports to Superintendent.
• Directs supervision of staff and ensures adherence to policies and bargaining unit rules.
• Prepares progress reports and maintains timecards and payroll records.
