Job summary

The City of Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) is seeking a Design Management professional to oversee diverse transportation and civil projects across Marion County. The role provides technical support to Project Managers and ensures compliance with statutes and contracts.

Ideal candidates have a 5+ year background in engineering/construction and hold a relevant degree or certification. Confidentiality, strong communication, and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or certification in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Architecture, or related field.
• 5+ years of equivalent experience in engineering or construction.
• Extensive knowledge of City, State, and FHWA policies and specifications as they relate to City infrastructure.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and conflict resolution abilities.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design management of local, federal, multi-modal, transportation, structural, and stormwater projects.
• Provide technical assistance in design specification, plan interpretation, scheduling, and general engineering activities to Project Managers.
• Ensure design management activities are performed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with current statutes, ordinances, specifications, and contract requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Duties may be expanded to include other tasks as deemed necessary by management.
