Job summary

The City of Macon is seeking a skilled laborer for maintenance and repair of roadways, right-of-way, and related infrastructure. This position requires operating heavy equipment and performing weld, concrete work, and various street projects.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED (preferred) and must obtain a Missouri Class B CDL within six months, plus pass a drug test and background check. Willingness to work in all weather and during snow events is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform physically demanding labor.
• Must be able to read and follow written/oral instructions in English.
• Valid Missouri Class B CDL within six months of hire (as required).
• Pre-employment drug test and background check required.
• Residency requirements must be met within sixty days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily work activities as directed by the Street Department Superintendent.
• Operate heavy equipment (graders, dump trucks, skid loader) safely.
• Repair and maintain vehicles and machinery.
• Construct catch basins, storm drains, and street-related projects.
• Plow snow and spread salt during weather events.
• Assist with city park maintenance.
• Load, transport, and spread materials for road resurfacing.
