Job summary

Humana is seeking a Director of Public Affairs & Strategy to lead cross-functional work bridging business strategy, healthcare policy, and advocacy. You will frame issues, develop policy positions, and execute coordinated strategies with senior leaders, guiding complex initiatives from framing to execution.

The role requires strategic, structured thinking, executive presence, ownership, and the ability to influence without formal authority. Remote-friendly with travel to key offices as needed.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree; MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, healthcare strategy, enterprise transformation, public affairs strategy, or similar.
• Deep knowledge of the U.S. healthcare industry, preferably with payer and/or provider experience.
• Proven ability to independently structure ambiguous problems, lead complex cross-functional work, and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
• Demonstrated ownership of complex workstreams and ability to drive execution with limited direction.
• Exceptional project leadership, executive communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Strong executive presence and ability to influence senior leaders without formal authority.
• High emotional intelligence and the ability to build trust across diverse perspectives.
• Sound judgment, curiosity, attention to detail in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex workstreams end to end with defined scope, milestones, and decisions.
• Advise senior leaders by framing issues, surfacing tradeoffs, and synthesizing perspectives.
• Develop strategies to advance enterprise priorities linking healthcare policy to business objectives.
• Drive analysis, scenario planning, and establish clear accountability and timelines.
• Create executive-ready deliverables: presentations, briefings, memos, and decision materials.
• Influence across functions, manage external consultants, and maintain high rigor and quality.
