Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Director of Public Affairs & Strategy to lead cross-functional work intersecting business strategy, healthcare policy, and advocacy across the enterprise.

The role requires translating complex policy issues into clear recommendations and disciplined execution, reporting to the SVP, Strategy & Public Affairs. The position offers location flexibility and occasional travel to major hubs, with a strong focus on executive-level communication and stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree; MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, healthcare strategy, or similar.
• Deep knowledge of the U.S. healthcare industry, preferably payer/provider experience.
• Proven ability to structure ambiguous problems, lead cross-functional work, and translate findings into actions.
• Ownership of complex workstreams with limited direction and strong execution.
• Exceptional project leadership and executive communication.
• Strong ability to influence senior leaders and stakeholders without formal authority.
• High emotional intelligence with ability to build trust across diverse perspectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex workstreams end to end with defined scope, milestones, and decisions.
• Advise senior leaders by framing issues, surfacing tradeoffs, and translating insights into recommendations.
• Develop strategies to advance enterprise priorities by linking policy developments to business goals.
• Drive analysis and execution through research, quantitative/qualitative work, and scenario planning.
• Create executive-ready deliverables: presentations, memos, and decision materials.
• Lead through influence, manage external partners, and maintain high quality and rigor.
