Job summary

City of New York seeks an experienced Director of Strategy & Operations (Non Managerial) within the Transportation Planning and Management division. The role reports to senior TPM leadership and oversees TD programs, ensuring alignment, staff wellbeing, and efficient internal operations across agencies.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four (4) years of full-time experience in city planning, at least eighteen (18) months of which must have been in a managerial capacity.
• Education and/or experience which is equivalent to first item; substitutions allowed per civil service rules.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Operations: align TD subunits, drive program delivery, coordinate with City agencies and MTA.
• People & Culture: lead HR coordination for recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
• Administration & Budget: oversee compliance, recruit support, budget planning and tracking, streamline workflows.
• Priority Programs: coordinate Next Stop: Fast Buses, Better Service plan and Streets Plan implementation tracking.
• Engagement: expand stakeholder engagement with advocates, business partners, and the public.
