Job summary

AdvanSix in Hopewell, VA seeks a Workforce Development Manager to lead training and learning strategy across the site, building programs that raise operator proficiency and support short- and long-term goals.

The role partners with site leadership and HR to accelerate qualification, manage the learning plan, and ensure regulatory requirements are met while driving a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 10+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing with training design.
• 5+ years in a supervisory/leadership role.
• Six Sigma certification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the overall training and learning strategy for the Hopewell site.
• Develop training programs to equip employees with knowledge and capability.
• Develop a strategy to reduce cycle time for operators to become fully qualified, stabilizing operations.
• Improve training processes and materials to boost operating knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
• Evaluate workforce skills and apply data and 80/20 to prioritize resourcing gaps.
• Develop and standardize KPIs to track training progression.
• Ensure workforce plans meet long-term growth goals.
• Manage the site learning plan with leaders to meet internal and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement in training using technology and lean practices.
• Identify opportunities for labor efficiency through partnerships to scale.
• Coaching on training methods and adult learning to mentor trainers.
• Collaborate with HR to align automation and efficiency with long-term goals.
• Direct performance of Hourly Training Leader and Area Trainers.
• Standardize training expectations across the site.
• Support safety culture through hazard recognition training with HS&E.
• Develop qualification requirements for all hourly groups.
• Lead qualification progression evaluation and testing.
• Coordinate New Hire Orientation with HR.
• Manage training budget and grants.
