Job summary

Paycom - ATS in Hickory, NC is seeking a Project Manager to provide overall management and direction for utility projects. The role includes client interface, project scoping, scheduling, procurement, cost tracking, and reporting.

Responsibilities cover supervision of utility activities, change management, bid/estimate alignment with profitability, scope creation, and QA/QC prior to client submission. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 2-year degree, from an accredited vocational school, college, university or combination of experience and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the above-described duties.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of managing/surveying infrastructure projects supporting state and local government agencies.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
• Has thorough knowledge of municipal construction, maintenance, and repair of utility infrastructure, and the methods, practices, procedures, materials, and equipment applicable to establishing and maintaining efficient and effective production.
• Thorough knowledge of the laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position.
• Clearly understands the occupational hazards and safety precautions required to perform the essential functions of the work.
• Familiarity and experience in using MicroStation is required as it relates to supporting all aspects of FDOT transportation projects.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all utility activities and project-related contracts within budget and schedule.
• Implement change management to assess requests, secure client approvals, and issue change orders.
• Ensure bids and estimates align with SSMC profit and growth objectives.
• Create scope of work through client negotiation to define project details and communication.
• Ensure QA/QC on final product before submission to client.
• Coordinate project activities with other divisions and outside agencies.
• Develop comprehensive long-term schedules reflecting project time frames.
• Provide day-to-day guidance to field personnel and training to field staff.
