Job summary

The University of Maryland - College Park is seeking a Buyer in its Procurement & Business Services team. This early-career procurement role handles routine to moderately complex procurements, from requirements development through award and post‑award support.

Under supervision, you will review requisitions, prepare purchase orders and contracts, conduct market research, evaluate supplier proposals, and negotiate terms within delegated authority.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Three (3) years of experience as a buyer in procurement.
• Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

Responsibilities

• Develop vendor sources and procure a variety of supplies, materials, equipment and services.
• Manage requisitions, purchase orders, solicitations, bid packages, and related documentation.
• Conduct market research, evaluate proposals, and make award recommendations.
• Negotiate and administer contracts and change orders within delegated authority.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, laws, and audit requirements.
• Support supplier diversity through outreach and documentation.
