Job summary

Garland Power & Light is seeking an experienced Transmission Engineer to lead long-range planning, capital projects, and modeling efforts for electric transmission and substation systems. The role coordinates with ERCOT, NERC, TRE, and PUCT to ensure compliant, reliable infrastructure in North Texas.

The ideal candidate has a PE license or eligibility, a strong background in load-flow studies, and proven management experience directing cross-functional teams across regulatory bodies and utility

Qualifications

  • 4 year college degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7 years related experience.
  • 3 years management experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (eligible to obtain Texas License)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage long-term and short-term transmission load flow and dynamics studies.
  • Produce studies and reports under NERC TPL Standards and FERC-715 filings.
  • Act as liaison to produce and file study results and transmission plans to ERCOT, NERC, TRE, and PUCT.
  • Develop studies and reports needed to identify and justify transmission facilities in support of capital projects budgets.
  • Manage resources and collaborate with ERCOT, TMPA and others to establish reliable, cost-effective transmission infrastructure.
  • Assist other departments in developing dynamic models of generation resources and filing them with ERCOT or others.
  • Manage Interconnection Studies and coordinate external studies for generation and large loads.
  • Represent Garland in ERCOT and NERC committees and testify before agencies.
  • Travel to provide testimony and participate in regulatory developments before PUCT, FERC, ERCOT and others.
  • Coordinate ERCOT Operating Guide and NERC compliance in planning issues and monitor procedures.
