Job summary

City of Garland is seeking a Senior Transmission Planning Engineer to lead long-term and short-term transmission load flow and dynamic studies. You will coordinate with ERCOT, NERC, TRE, and PUCT for filings and regulatory input, ensuring reliable substation and transmission planning.

The role requires 7+ years in transmission operations or planning, a PE license or eligibility, and strong budgeting and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 4-year college degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7 years related experience.
• 3 years management experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (eligible to obtain a Texas License).
• Masters degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage long-term and short-term transmission load flow and dynamics studies.
• Produce studies and reports under NERC TPL Standards and FERC-715 filings.
• Coordinate filings with ERCOT, NERC, TRE, and PUCT as required.
• Develop studies to identify and justify needed transmission facilities for capital budgets.
• Manage interdepartmental collaboration for reliable substation and transmission planning.
• Represent Garland in ERCOT/NERC committees and testify as needed.
