GS2 | B Corp™ seeks a Transmission Planning Engineer to join its Texas-based planning team, supporting reliability and compliance of the ERCOT transmission system. This hands-on engineering role offers direct exposure to ERCOT stakeholder processes and ownership of planning studies that influence capital decisions, with reporting to the Transmission Planning Director.

• Minimum 3 years of transmission planning experience at an electrical utility.
• Experience with power system software including PSS/E, TARA, PowerWorld, and ASPEN.
• Familiarity with NERC, FERC, and ERCOT standards.
• Experience with TSPs and ERCOT is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform planning studies for interconnections and capital investment decisions.
• Engage with ERCOT and neighboring utilities on system conditions and assessments.
• Conduct steady-state, short circuit, and stability studies for the Annual Planning Assessment.
• Provide engineering and analytical support to maintain transmission reliability.

Job description

A well-established Texas Transmission Service Provider (TSP) is seeking a Transmission Planning Engineer to join its planning team, supporting the reliability and compliance of its transmission system within the ERCOT market.

This is a technically hands-on role for an engineer who wants direct exposure to ERCOT stakeholder processes and ownership of planning studies that shape real capital decisions.

What the Transmission Planning Engineer will do:

• Perform planning studies for new interconnection requests and to support capital investment decisions
• Engage directly with ERCOT and neighboring utilities on system conditions, planning assessments, and recommendations
• Conduct steady state, short circuit, and stability studies to support the Annual Planning Assessment
• Provide engineering and analytical expertise to support transmission system reliability

What You'll Bring:

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in transmission planning at an electrical utility
• Experience with power system software including PSS/E, TARA, PowerWorld, and ASPENWorking knowledge of current NERC, FERC, and ERCOT standards
• Experience with TSPs and ERCOT strongly preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to prioritize across multiple concurrent studies and projects
