Job summary

Garland Power & Light is seeking a senior Transmission Planning Engineer to oversee long-term load flow studies and development of capital projects. You will coordinate with ERCOT, NERC, TRE and PUCT, preparing filings and reports while guiding a team and managing budgets.

The role requires extensive experience in transmission planning, regulatory engagement, and leadership to ensure safe, cost-effective grid improvements in Garland, Texas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering required; PE eligible preferred.
• 7 years related experience with 3+ years in leadership.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (or eligible) required for Texas.
• Masters degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage long/short-term transmission plans and studies.
• Produce reports under NERC TPL standards and FERC filings.
• Coordinate filings with ERCOT, NERC, TRE and PUCT as needed.
• Identify facilities and justify capital project budgets and design.
• Collaborate with internal departments and regulators for compliance.
• Manage interconnection studies and external studies coordination.
• Represent Garland in ERCOT/NERC committees and testify when required.
