Job summary

The City of Sunny Isles Beach is seeking a Transportation & Fleet Manager to oversee daily operations of the Transportation Division and manage fleet assets, including shuttle buses and municipal vehicles.

The role requires mid-level management skills, independent judgment, and strong knowledge of transit operations, fleet coordination, budgets, and regulatory compliance. A valid Florida driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred or (10) years related experience.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in transportation systems, fleet coordination, or related operations.
• Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License.
• Possession of a valid Florida Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Transport Endorsement preferred or required within one‑year of position appointment.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements policies, procedures, and performance standards for all areas of shuttle operation.
• Directs and supervises daily transit operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
• Plans transit routes, work assignments and equipment allocations to meet operational goals, including daily shuttle service, regional connectivity, and City sponsored events.
• Oversees dispatch operations, including emergency response coordination for personnel and vehicles.
• Coordinates and conducts personnel recruitment, training and orientation.
• Monitors and evaluates operational performance using ridership data, service metrics, and customer feedback.
• Manages fleet condition, utilization, and lifecycle needs, including identifying replacement and maintenance priorities.
• Assists the Director by coordinating with FDOT, MDT, FTA, and other funding or permitting agencies.
