Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a Tax Advisor for a seasonal, in-person role in Texas. You will review client tax situations, ensure return accuracy, and provide practical guidance that builds trust and value.

With 2+ years in tax prep, you will translate complex tax concepts into clear advice, deliver proactive planning, and maintain IRS/state compliance while building lasting client relationships.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including individual and small business returns.
• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts in client-friendly language.
• Ability to collaborate within a team environment to deliver a seamless client experience.
• Must complete continuing education and meet all IRS and applicable state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Guide clients through a consultative experience — Review each client’s tax situation and provide personalized recommendations.
• Translate complexity into clarity — Present tax concepts in client-friendly language so clients understand their return and options.
• Deliver forward-looking advice — Help clients define financial goals and provide proactive tax planning guidance.
• Own the accuracy of every return — Review, validate, and ensure filings meet IRS regulations and Block standards.
• Stay sharp on tax law and technology — Keep current with evolving tax regulations and Block tools.
• Build lasting client relationships — Earn loyalty through empathy, integrity, and follow-through.
