The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) invites engineers to join the System Realization and Resilience group to apply systems engineering to strategic weapon systems, ensuring resilience across the lifecycle.

As a System Realization and Resilience Engineer, you will guide design and evaluation, participate in projects, use MBSE and digital engineering, and deliver reports to sponsors while supporting verification of critical national programs.

Qualifications

  • Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related technical field.
  • Have interest in Systems Engineering and/or SpecialtyEngineering domains.
  • Are willing and able to travel periodically, including short duration visits to sponsor offices at the Washington Navy Yard and to supporting contractor sites, as well as occasional travel to other military bases across the country.
  • Are able to obtain a Secret security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide systems engineering expertise to guide the design, development, and evaluation of strategic weapon systems.
  • Participate as a systems engineer on various projects, studies, and technical working groups focusing on requirements development, analysis, concept/technology development, acquisition, test planning and execution, system evaluation, and risk assessments across the program lifecycle.
  • Employ system engineering methodologies and analyses such as model based systems engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering (DE) to enable the development of strategic weapon systems.
  • Deliver formal reports and presentations to sponsors and supporting contractors, and effectively communicate proposed concepts/solutions and analysis results.
