Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Quantitative Systems Engineer to evaluate and realize resilient, survivable architectures for strategically important systems. You will work within the System Realization and Resilience Group of the Force Projection Sector, applying rigorous systems-of-systems engineering and cybersecurity principles to DoD-related programs.

Qualifications

  • BS in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years of quantitative design analysis, software design analysis, network topology evaluation, or digital system architectural analysis.
  • Familiarity with MBSE tools (Cameo Enterprise Architect / MagicDraw).
  • Willing to travel ~5–10% and able to obtain/maintain required security clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Perform rigorous technical design analysis of complex software-intensive architectures, evaluating data flows, latency, failover, and network survivability.
  • Construct and interrogate structural/behavioral models in Cameo/MagicDraw to evaluate architectural logic and data exchanges.
  • Conduct quantitative trade studies and vulnerability assessments to identify performance bottlenecks and resilience risks early in development.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to translate findings into actionable architectural improvements for sponsors and contractors.
